Price said his first real "ba" today! How exciting! See, he's very vocal and holds conversations with screams, grunts, and ga's, but not much else. He is really trying to figure this speaking thing out. Our speech therapist said it is most likely a motor planning issue. He will watch us speak and you can see the wheels turning in his head, but he has a difficult time mimicking.
For about a week he has been putting his lips together but not saying anything while doing it. While we were in speech today, a "ba" slipped out loud and clear. I was so excited, and I could see the excitement in his eyes as well. I hope I hear some more sometime soon. A "ma" would be really great too!
We WILL get there!

Game time
Saturday we woke up and got ready for the Texas football game. Ellery gets so excited about the games which makes her daddy so happy.

We headed back to Houston after half time so that we could get back for church on Sunday. The kids missed their afternoon naps so we were sure they would sleep the entire way home. Ellery fell asleep before we got out of Austin, but sweet Pricey managed to stay awake awhile. He has become a huge fan of the car dvd player, and he usually laughs his way through "The Little Mermaid" or "Annie" or some other very girly movie.
I was using my hair straightener to help fight the frizz at the game, and Ellery decided she wanted her hair straightened as well. It really did look pretty!
Ellery loved this pink truck and wanted a picture in front of it.

What a night
We loaded up the car yet again on Friday for Austin. We were given tickets to the George Strait concert at the new Cedar Park venue. These tickets couldn't have been any better - 2nd row, right in the middle! Nathan and I left the kids at the lake with a babysitter and caught a cab to take us to the concert so we wouldn't have to deal with directions and parking.
I think this was the best concert I have ever been to. Not only was it George, but it was George up close and personal. I am pretty positive we made eye contact at least 3 times throughout the night. I might be slightly obsessed with him now.
Nathan and I should really get out more because Friday night was quite a night. It all kicked off with a crazy cab driver who talked our ears off. He told us how his father had 35 kids and 7 wives. What? When I asked him about his wife, he told us that he had one wife as well as a baby mama. What?
While at the concert, I set my phone down on my seat for a few minutes while I stood up, and when I went back to get it, it was gone! I knew it couldn't have gone far and thought maybe it had gotten knocked off. It was no where to be found. I started panicking thinking about my contacts and calendar I had never backed up, but more importantly the pictures of my babies that were on there. As Nathan and I were looking for it all over the floor and I was feeling so rude for not giving George my undivided attention, a guy behind us and down the row a little leaned in to tell Nathan that he had seen the girl behind me grab it and put it in her purse. What? Do people really do that at George Strait concerts...the guy who sings, "I Saw God Today?" I am here to tell you - they do!
So, Nathan asks her to look in her purse and she kind of fumbles around saying she doesn't see it. I was getting ticked and thought about saying something to her, but she was quite a bit bigger than me and had definitely had a few too many to drink. To make a long story short, she knows she's about to be busted and makes some genius comment about how she feels something under the girl's seat next to me. The floor we had just checked and double-checked. We get my phone minus the battery. She had completely disassembled my phone while fumbling around in her purse. We were calling my number, so all I can think was that she didn't want us to see it light up or hear it. When we were about to leave the concert, we end up finding the battery and the back of my phone on the floor as well. She had gotten scared and left the concert early and I guess scattered the remaining parts of my phone all over the floor. What?
Thankfully, the whole phone incident didn't ruin our night and we managed to have a great time. Of course, the night ended with another 45 minute ride with our cab driver who managed to "entertain" us the whole way home.
Check out how close we were!

Home from the lake

We are back from a full and fantastic weekend at the lake with the Melton family. I have lots of cute pictures to post but was shocked to see this one on our camera. I love that Tiffany caught this sweet moment.

A conversation with Ellery
Ellery: "Mommy, what did you and daddy do on your date?"
Mom: "We ate dinner and talked about how much we loved you and how proud of you we are."
Ellery: "And brother? What else did you talk about? Have I ever been to the place you ate?"
Mom: "Yes, and your brother of course. You two are my favorite. Yes, you've been to the place we ate at tonight. Ruggles. Remember? We also talked about how we want to obey God in everything."
Ellery: "Let me think. Oh yes, I remember eating there with Heidi. You have to obey God just like I have to obey Him."
Mom: "That's right punky."
Ellery: "Jesus lives in our hearts. He helps us when we are sad or scared."
Mom: "He sure does."
Ellery: "Some people do not have Jesus living in their hearts. Why?"
Mom: "You are right. That's why we need to tell everyone about Him."
Ellery: (pausing to think for a bit) "Well, how does Jesus get into their hearts?"
Mom: (impressed with the logical thinking that's going on and trying to come up with the best, most age appropriate answer FAST) "Well, all they have to do is ask. They can say, "Jesus, I believe and I need your help," and He will come live in their hearts."
Ellery: "Oh. They just have to ask. Jesus lives far away. We can't drive there or fly there, right? How do we get there?"
Mom: "You are right. When Jesus calls our name, He will take us to heaven."
Ellery: "Yes, when He calls our name."
Mom: "Do you know who lives in heaven with Jesus? Nanny does."
Ellery: "I miss Nanny."
Mom: "Me too, but we will see her again."
Ellery: "Yes, we will see her and see Jesus."
Mom: "We ate dinner and talked about how much we loved you and how proud of you we are."

Future linebacker

I love, love when Price and Ellery start giggling together. Not much makes me happier!
Price had his one-year check-up today. He is now:
26.6 pounds (90th percentile)
31 inches (80th percentile)
and one BIG, handsome boy!
